> Google AI Overviews showed up for 68.7% of pest control searches in our Florida study, the highest rate of any industry we have measured. Here is who AI names, where it looks, and what to fix first.

For most home service trades, Google's AI answer is still rare. For pest control, it is the norm.

In the Florida Pest Control AI Visibility Study, we ran 829 searches across 10 Florida cities and five AI tools. We covered general pest control, termite treatment, mosquito control, rodent removal, and lawn pest control.

We asked the way homeowners ask: the best pest control company in a city, I need pest control near a city, and top rated companies with reviews. Then we recorded every company each tool named.

Google AI Overviews showed up for 68.7% of pest control searches. That is the highest rate of any Florida industry we have studied.

## What is a Google AI Overview?

It is the AI-written answer that sometimes appears at the top of Google search results, above the regular links. A homeowner can read it, sometimes with business names in it, before they scroll to anything else.

## How often does Google's AI show up for pest control?

More than two out of three times, and more often for some jobs. Mosquito control searches brought it up 83.3% of the time. Termite treatment was 73.3%, and rodent removal and lawn pest control were both 70%.

General pest control searches were lowest at 46.7%. For comparison, Google's AI showed up for just 12% of HVAC searches and 14% of roofing searches in our other Florida studies.

When Google's AI answers, it pulls from Google Business Profile and map data. For pest control, that makes your Business Profile doubly important.

## Do the other AI tools name pest control companies?

Yes, but each one names different companies. Across all five tools, AI named a specific local company in 80.9% of searches.

ChatGPT named a company every time, and Gemini did 97.7% of the time. Perplexity named one only 51.2% of the time, and often linked to directory pages instead.

That is one more reason to keep your directory profiles complete. When Perplexity points a homeowner to a directory, you want to be on it.

The type of job mattered too. Mosquito control searches got a named company 86.2% of the time and termite treatment 82.7%. General pest control was lowest at 75.3%.

AI named 1,776 different pest control companies, and 96.7% of them showed up on just one tool. Zero made all five, and only 3 made four.

ChatGPT's picks had no overlap at all with Claude's or Google's. The closest pair, Perplexity and Claude, agreed 21.4% of the time.

## Do Orkin and Terminix win in AI?

They do better here than in any other trade we have studied, and independents still win. Franchises like Orkin and Terminix got 13.4% of AI recommendations, more than double their share in any other industry.

Independent companies got the other 86.6%. A local company with a strong profile can still show up ahead of the national names.

## Where does AI look for pest control companies?

Yelp, more than anywhere else. AI cited Yelp in 216 searches, ahead of Angi at 158 and the BBB at 92.

That is different from roofing, where the BBB led, and HVAC, where Angi led. For pest control, a thin or unclaimed Yelp profile is a real gap.

Your website counts too. Claude pulled from Yelp, Angi, the BBB, and pest control company websites when it answered, so a site with a clear page for each service gives it something to read.

## Does the city matter?

A little. Ft. Lauderdale had the highest rate of named companies at 85.7%, and Naples had the lowest at 75%. In every city we tested, AI named a company in at least three out of four searches.

## What should a pest control owner do first?

Get your Google Business Profile in order, since Google's AI shows up for most of your searches. List each service separately: mosquito control, termite treatment, rodent removal, lawn pest control.

Those are the exact searches where Google's AI answered most. If your profile only says “pest control,” you are leaving the specific searches to someone else.

While you are in your profile, add real photos of your trucks and techs, and keep your hours current. If you offer same-day service, say so in your description.

Next, claim and fill out your Yelp profile, and ask happy customers to review you there as well as on Google. Then make sure your business name, address, and phone number match everywhere, including Angi and the BBB.

## Which AI tools name your company?

Each tool keeps its own list, so the only way to know is to check all five. Our free scan checks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, and Google AI Overviews for your business in about 60 seconds.

It also shows you whether Google's AI names you, which for pest control is the answer most of your customers will see first.
